Omolion, (old name Laspohori) from ancient Omolion which was the northernmost city of Magneta with its heyday in the 4th century BC. The city participated in the Delphic Amphictyony, 12 Greek tribes participated, and two representatives were from Omolion representing Thessaly.<\/p>

It is one of the most important cities of ancient Magnesia, it was a kingdom and had its own Mint. Bronze coins that were found depict a bearded male figure that probably represents the Homeric hero Philoctetes on one side and a coiled snake on the other. In addition to the mint in ancient Omolion, they had a very developed pottery art. There were even many workshops for clay objects as is evident from the objects that were found.<\/p>

During the years of Turkish rule, the Byzantine stone bridge at Peratoria, which spanned the Pinios River with 20 arches and a length of 200 meters, was restored by Osman Pasha in 1730 and today we can only see the main arch.<\/p>

A few meters outside the Tempi to Omolion intersection are the springs of Daphne and Aphrodite, as well as two caves known as Dana and Barotrypa. Dana is approximately 50 meters deep with stalactites and stalagmites.<\/p>

Just outside Omolion we will also encounter the gorge passage, Megas Lakkos, through which Alexander the Great passed with his army. On the path that we can walk we will also encounter the Tempi Theater, a modern space, and in the village we can visit the Folklore Exhibition of Marinos Antipas since this pioneer of the agricultural movement rests on his land.<\/p>

Omolion is so close to the Tempi Valley and the Pinios Delta, two magical areas that will not leave us unmoved if we visit it.<\/p>
